Our new website is live

At a glance
Who we are, the applied work behind us, eight free tools that run in your browser, and where to start.
Most hard questions in medical research reach the same point: the convenient model and the right one give different answers. That point is where we do most of our work, on applied studies with trial, record and register data, and our new website is built to show it.
We are Michael Crowther, Hannah Bower-Kähäri, Sara Ekberg, Rickard Strandberg and Joshua Entrop, biostatisticians in Stockholm since 2021. The people who answer your questions are the people who wrote the methods and the software.
The evidence. Five case studies show applied projects where the right model changed the answer, each published in a peer-reviewed journal: mapping the path to lasting remission in lymphoma, reading the whole PSA trajectory to predict survival in prostate cancer, counting recurrent events when death gets in the way, comparing survival fairly across hospitals, and telling a real treatment effect from patient selection in 1.2 million Medicare patients. Behind them are more than 100 completed projects and the 201 peer-reviewed papers on our publications page, with BibTeX and RIS downloads.
New: eight tools that run in your browser. They are free, with nothing to install: a sample size and power calculator, a survival data-generating mechanism explorer, multi-state and partitioned-survival explorers, a hazard-ratio explainer, a Kaplan–Meier reconstruction tool, a model chooser and a merlin model builder. Three of them:

The work we are asked about most. Applied studies with real-world evidence from Swedish and Nordic registers, joint modelling of longitudinal and survival data, multi-state and competing-risks modelling, and survival modelling for HTA. Each page says what we do and who you would work with.
A free library. The library has 22 primers that explain one idea in plain language, 17 tutorials that work through a method in code, 13 method pages and a glossary.
Courses: register your interest now. Tell us which of our courses you want, from survival analysis to joint modelling and the Winter School, and you will hear when dates are confirmed, before they are announced anywhere else. More to come. New releases from the merlin family of software, and more tools and primers, are on the way. The newsletter at the foot of this page is the easiest way to hear first.
If you are working on something we could help with, we would be glad to hear about it.
